Tell us a bit about yourself: how long have you been in proxy farming and why did you choose this business?
My name is Adriaan van Veen, I’m 35 years old and I own Mobile Proxy Germany – GermanProxy.io. I taught myself to code at 14 and sold my first website at 16. Since then, I’ve been working independently in web design and marketing. What surprises many people is that I’m also a TV actor on German television. Most people don’t expect coding and acting to go together.

During the COVID period, when I had fewer projects, I looked for new income sources. My first idea was to use social media bots to boost reach, which led me to mobile proxies — the best solution for this. Soon, I realized the real business was not social media automation, but mobile proxies themselves. In the end, it feels like the business chose me.

What are the main advantages of running a proxy farm as a business? How profitable is it? Why did you choose to build your farm on smartphones?

First and foremost, I value freedom and being my own boss, so building a proxy farm is my way to independence. Whether a business is profitable depends on who runs it and many different factors. Since mobile proxies rely on SIM cards, it’s important for you to get them as cheaply as possible. After that, you should grow slowly and avoid having too many unsold proxies — ideally, no more than 10% free at any time.

Smartphones have several advantages over common 4G USB dongles:

  • Very easy to set up with iProxy, no technical knowledge needed.

  • No separate server or extra fiber connection required.

  • Higher CAT (category) for better reception and stable connections.

  • Smartphones can be moved to another location quickly and easily.

  • Unlike 4G dongles, proxies use the real Android fingerprint, making them much more authentic.

  • In case of a power outage, phone batteries keep everything running for up to 6 hours — so there’s almost no downtime.

I know what I’m talking about because I used dongles myself for a while. Now, I rely 100% on smartphones.

How does iProxy.online help you in your work, which features are most useful, and why do you choose iProxy for creating and managing your proxies?

iProxy has a great dashboard that makes managing and setting up mobile proxies very easy. But what really matters to me are the people behind iProxy and their support. Software is only as good as the people and the vision behind it. With iProxy, I know there is a dedicated team always working to make the software better, adapt to the market, and help quickly if there’s a problem.

I have tested different providers. None of them combine all the features like iProxy. For me, the most important and often underestimated thing is fast, reliable support. This is more important than just having the cheapest prices — because in the end, stability and quick problem-solving save me more than a supposedly cheap monthly price.

What is the minimum budget needed to start a proxy farm?

You don’t need much to start a proxy farm. All you need is a reliable smartphone like a used Samsung S9, which you can get for around $50 in Germany. It has a fast CPU and enough RAM. Add a good quality charger (about $15), and a SIM card with lots of or unlimited data — ideally without a “fair use” limit.

With a one-time cost of about $65 for hardware, plus monthly fees starting at $15–$30 for the SIM card and from $6 for the iProxy plan (total from $21 per month), you are ready to start. That means in the first month you’ll spend about $86–101 total, and then $21–36 per month after that.
How quickly can you reach profitability, and what factors influence that?

Everything depends on finding customers. I think it’s important to present yourself professionally and have a strong name, like GermanProxy.io, that makes it clear what you’re selling. Always be friendly and polite to your customers. The iProxy Telegram groups are the perfect place to start finding clients.

I also think carefully about what time periods to offer your proxies — I personally offer 3-day, 7-day, and 30-day plans. Profitability increases when you turn one proxy into a shared proxy, for example, by selling access to 3 – 4 users with auto IP rotation every 10 minutes. However, demand for shared proxies is lower than for dedicated ones, but in terms of profit, shared is usually better.

As already mentioned, it’s better to grow slowly and steadily. You mayface somechallenges, including learning how to handle customers the right way.

What devices and SIM cards do you use for your proxy farm?

I use only Samsung S-series smartphones for my proxy farm. They offer high CAT, good CPUs, are easy to root, and are widely available. For SIM cards, my approach is to avoid breaking any carrier terms: I use business SIM cards with unlimited data and no fair use limits.

Which mobile operators are best suited for creating mobile proxies?

Carriers are different from country to country. Important factors are network quality, stability—which can change depending on the time of day — and also the size of the IP pool. Generally, the bigger the IP pool, the better, but keep an eye on the IP fraud score. Some mobile carriers also differentiate between private and business SIM cards at the cell tower level, with business SIMs getting priority.

How do you deal with network coverage issues in difficult areas?

If you are already having network or connection issues, your first mistake was choosing the wrong location for your farm. The key is to pick the right spot — ideally, an office with large windows and several mobile towers nearby. Avoid being directly in the city center, as there may be too many users on the network.

If you have no choice but to use a less-than-ideal location, do everything you can to avoid interference. Use only 5G Samsung S-series phones for the best possible reception. Don’t place the phones too close together, and avoid anything that could cause signal issues. Don’t use 2.4GHz WiFi nearby — if you need WiFi, use 5GHz at low power. Keep any objects that might block the signal away, and place the phones as close to the window as possible. With an app, you can check which cell tower the phone connects to and position the phone in that direction for the best signal.

Also, WiFi can have a big impact on speed and stability, so make sure to optimize your WiFi setup accordingly.

What are the main challenges you face in running a proxy farm?

The hardest part is always finding customers. After that, it’s about providing a stable service and reliable customer support — because every customer is different.

On top of that, there’s all the administrative work like bookkeeping, invoices, and taxes — which shouldn’t be underestimated.

What automation tools do you use to manage your farm?

My online shop, GermanProxy.io, automatically sends proxy login data after payment — because I can’t be online 24/7 and my customers come from all over the world, in different time zones. This automatic delivery is a key feature. I also use a Telegram bot for customer support (with ManyChat), which saves a lot of time. Before a customer reports an issue, they answer a few questions about how they use the proxy, so I can find a solution faster. The Telegram bot also helps monitor iProxy uptime, so I can spot problems before customers even notice.

How do you scale your farm when you see an increase in demand?

When demand increases, focus on organizing your smartphones — use affordable holders, racks, or shelves. Get multi-port chargers to power several phones at once and build modular smartphone rigs you can easily replicate and expand. Scaling the hardware is straightforward; it just takes some investment and time.

Who are the main clients of proxy farmers? Which niches are the most profitable?

It’s not easy to say, since my customers value their anonymity and privacy. However, from anonymous surveys, I see strong demand for web scraping (especially price comparison), social media automation, and account creation (in legal form).

If possible, could you share where you find your clients? Or share your thoughts on where you see opportunities to find clients for proxy farmers?

To start, the iProxy Telegram groups are best. A good website with strong SEO and sometimes paid ads can help. BlackHatWorld.com is also an option, even if it’s not always easy. But the most important is word of mouth from satisfied customers.

What do you think are the advantages of mobile proxies compared to other types of proxies?

A mobile proxy, combined with an antidetect setup and the right settings, is almost impossible to identify as a proxy. This makes it especially interesting for web scraping, since many websites block access through captchas and various firewalls.

Compared to other types, mobile proxies are much more anonymous and have a higher success rate for avoiding detection. I would say mobile proxies are the kings of proxies.

How do you ensure the stability and quality of your proxies to keep clients satisfied?

Most important: I set up my phones in a location with perfect signal — 5 out of 5 bars — and make sure there are no sources of interference. I use only strong 4G or 5G Samsung phones with a high CAT. I recommend renting a VIP server at iProxy, as it greatly improves stability and speed. I use the BigDaddy Pro plan for maximum speed and all features. I delete all unnecessary apps from my smartphones to reduce background processes.

I am always friendly with my customers. If something goes wrong, we from GermanProxy.io always compensate our customers for any lost time — usually even more than what they lost.

iProxy Online
How do you avoid issues with clients who use proxies for shady or gray-area activities?

I think the most important thing is to protect yourself with solid terms and conditions, making it clear that proxies are only to be used for legal purposes. Of course, privacy is a factor — I cannot see what customers do with their proxies. However, if I become aware of any illegal activity, the user will be banned immediately.

I do everything possible to prevent abuse, such as using strong credit card protections.

It’s important to remember that proxies are not automatically illegal or “bad”— just like a regular phone contract or cryptocurrency, it depends on how people use it. My mission is to give people more privacy and I fully support only legal usage. That’s what I stand for.

How much can proxy farmer earn with a proxy farm, and what does profitability depend on?

As we say in Germany, “profit is made in purchasing.” Keep your expenses low and make sure no more than 10–20% of your proxies are unused. Set your prices to cover all costs — office, device maintenance, servers, software, SIM cards, electricity, advertising, taxes, etc. Earning $30,000 per month with proxies is possible, but start small. Be satisfied if you can regularly sell your first 10 proxies. Most important is having a real passion for tech and marketing. Right now, the biggest potential is in US, UK, and German proxies.

How has the market changed over the past few years, and what is the future outlook for proxy farming?

I’ve been in the proxy business for 3 years now. What has changed: there are more providers, the software keeps getting better, and I’m also seeing increasing demand. Of course, I wonder about how long this business model will last. From my research and experience, I expect annual growth of about 8% until 2030 to be realistic. Right now, I don’t see any disruptive technology or anything that could replace mobile proxies.

What advice would you give to someone who’s just getting started with their own farm?

Better to grow steadily and slowly than too fast and miscalculate. Soon, I’ll offer a program with all the secrets and tricks — step-by-step guides for planning, marketing, hardware, setup, automation, and more — so anyone can build something like I did. I’ll show how anyone can go from their first smartphone to running over 500 devices.

What would you like to say to people who are still unsure about starting a proxy farm with iProxy.online?

In most businesses, you have to invest a lot and wait a long time to break even. With iProxy, there’s almost no risk and you have the chance to build a business that gives you real freedom. Stop hesitating — just start and try!
